 | Brothers Down |
USMVMC MI-2 Brothers Reload and Dozer went down in two separate incidents earlier this week.
On the evening of Monday, April 21, 2008, Brothers Buckshot and Reload were returning home from the Tenn-A-Bama Annual. Shortly after sundown, on US 20 just east of Angola IN, they came up on some roadkill in their path. As Buckshot and his extension, Horny Toad, riding the lead bike, were passing the obstacle, a dog that was feeding on the carcass lifted its head and became visible to Buckshot reflecting the headlights in its eyes. Too late to warn Reload, Buckshot passed the dog. The dog panicked and bolted directly into the path of Reload and his extension, Lady Dye. Reload hit the dog head-on and high-sided the bike, throwing him and Lady Dye off. Reload was life-flighted to a hospital in Fort Wayne IN where he spent 3 days in ICU with internal injuries. Lady Dye was treated and released from the local Angola IN hospital. Both suffered some road rash and are very sore from the fall. Reload is expected to be released from the hospital in a few more days. His bike, an '06 FLHTCUI, appears to have been totaled as it has a cracked frame and other damage.
The following day, April 22, 2008, in Ypsilanti MI, Brother Dozer laid his bike down avoiding a left-turning cage. He suffered a broken ankle and was treated and released at a local hospital. His bike, an '08 FLHTCI, was not damaged other than some minor scratches.
